Abdulkadir Emin Önen born on March 15 1976 in Ankara.
He concluded his primary and secondary education at Ankara Gazi Anatolian High School
After finishing his education at Department of Public Administration in Istanbul Fatih University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, he attained his Master’s Degree in Political Science with the thesis titled “Perception of Asia in Turkish foreign policy from 2003 onward.”
Worked as an Investment Adviser and General Director in the private sector, Önen eventually founded his own consulting company focusing on imports and exports in People’s Republic of China.
Elected as Justice and Development Party’s Şanlıurfa deputy in 2007, Abdulkadir EminÖnen became one of the youngest deputies to have seat in the Parliament. Serving during Parliament’s 23rd and 24th Legislative Seasons, Önen served as the President of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) during the 23rd Legislative Season, while serving as the Vice President of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and President of Turkey-China Interparliamentary Friendship Group during the 24th Legislative Season.
Also served as the President of Turkish Group at OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Abdulkadir EminÖnen actively participated in Turkey’s international interactions as Justice and Development Party’s Vice President for Foreign Relations.
Focusing on Asia and China during his term as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief advisor after being appointed to the post on January 29 2016, Önen was appointed as Turkey’s Ambassador to Beijing, China on October 26 2017.
Önen continues to serve his duty as Turkey’s Ambassador to Beijing.
Married and father of three children, Önen speaks English and Chinese.
